On behalf of Sister Cities Essex Haiti and the people of Deschapelles, Haiti, I would like to thank all those in our shoreline community for showing such wonderful support at our recent fundraiser, Have a Heart for Haiti, on

March 2. We so appreciate the interest, ideas, and enthusiasm for what we are trying to accomplish in Haiti. The funds raised will help to support Hôpital Albert Schweitzer and establish a library in Deschapelles.
The people of Deschapelles chose the creation of a library as the first community project to collaborate with Sister Cities Essex Haiti for the primary purpose of giving children a safe, well-lit place to study, a place to borrow books, and a community gathering place. Education is valued in Haiti and, unfortunately, it is out of the reach of many Haitian families. We agree with the community leaders in Deschapelles that a library will do much to provide the community with a sense of pride and a useful tool for learning.
Thanks to all who came, contributed, volunteered, and supported Sister Cities Essex Haiti, Hôpital Albert Schweitzer, and our projects in Deschapelles. The people of the shoreline community are very supportive of the many wonderful organizations doing so much in our area. It is so touching to see the same generous spirit extend beyond our borders.
