Leonard and Eileen (La Bounty) Rogers recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. The couple married on July 6, 1944, at St. John's Church in Uncasville.

Leonard, from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, joined the U.S. Navy in 1938, and served on destroyers during World War II in the South China Sea Fleet. He also worked at the Underwater Sound Lab in New London. During his time in New London, he met Uncasville native, Eileen, at Central Gardens in Uncasville, a local dance hall.

The couple lived in Uncasville most of their 68 years together and now reside at Crescent Point in Niantic.
