Waterford to host horseshoe tournament

Waterford - A $100 prize is on the line for the team that wins the town's first annual horseshoe tournament.

The tournament and games on the green, a fundraiser for the town's historical society, is scheduled for Oct. 13. Preregistration is encouraged. The games on the green for children will end one hour prior to the tournament competition. A small fee will be charged for games on the green.

Cost for the horseshoe tournament is $10 per person or $20 per team. Team information, including all contact information and checks made payable to the Waterford Historical Society, should be sent to the historical society at 2 Laurel Crest Drive, Waterford, CT 06285.

Preregistration ends Oct. 11 but will continue the day of the tournament at the cost of $12 per person, or $24 per team.

The fundraiser on Jordan Green begins at 10 a.m., and the winning team is determined through elimination.
