Jodie Chapman and Gregg Hamel recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary. They were married Oct. 1, 2011, on the beach in Groton Long Point. At sunset, a double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Victoria Burdick.

Jodie is the daughter of Robert Chapman and the late Nicole Chapman. Gregg is the son of Jill Wile and Daniel Hamel.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride's party included Justine Anderson, her best friend since middle school, and Sarah Roberts Mallory. Adam Mallory was the best man with usher, Corey Chapman, Jodie's brother.

A celebration of their marriage immediately followed at Groton Long Point Yacht Club. After an amazing evening, the couple honeymooned in St. Maarten.

Jodie is a graduate of Bacon Academy and Central Connecticut State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in graphic design and currently works in East Hartford. Gregg is a graduate of Waterford High School and received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Connecticut. He is employed in Oxford.

The happy couple resides in Southington with their dogs, Oscar and Bailey.
