It must be "Sound of Music" synchronicity that Julie Andrews is directing a show in Chester at the same time that Elisabeth von Trapp - the granddaughter of Maria and Baron von Trapp - is performing in Old Lyme.
Elisabeth von Trapp will sing at Saint Ann's Episcopal Church, with a program that covers quite a range. She's been known to perform pop classics (a little Sting, for instance), Broadway tunes, classical pieces, early American hymns and gospel numbers. She writes her own songs as well.
This chanteuse has quite a resume. Von Trapp has performed at the Kennedy Center and on "Good Morning America," among many other venues. Her music has been featured on National Public Radio.
Von Trapp, who grew up in Vermont, also spends one or two months each year to give free performances at churches - such as this one at Saint Ann's.
After her concert there, she will stay to meet concert-goers. The church will serve refreshments, and CDs will be sold.
