Three face off in 33rd Senate district

Three candidates are running for the 33rd state Senate district seat. Veteran Democratic state Sen. Eileen Daily is not seeking re-election.

The Republican candidate is Art Linares, 24, a small-business owner of a solar energy company.

The Democratic candidate is James Crawford, 62, a retired teacher and presently a state representative.

Melissa Schlag is the Green Party candidate. At 38, she owns her own cleaning service and is a general contractor.

The 33rd District includes all or parts of Chester, Clinton, Colchester, Deep River, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland and Westbrook.
