Norwich – A new city website goes live at 6 p.m. today, promising a less crowded home page, easier access to the events calendar, improved agenda and meeting minutes sections and video clips from City Council meetings.
With the new website, residents can sign up for specific alerts, such as postings of agendas, job openings and bid requests. Various city departments can post questionnaires for residents.
“We recommend people just poke around the site and try it out,” said Deputy Comptroller Josh Pothier, who worked with the city’s consultant CivicPlus and a panel of volunteers to design the website.
The web address remains the same: www.norwichct.org.
The new home page features a close-up photo of the City Hall clock tower at the top center and a photo of Slater Memorial Museum at the left. At the center is a “Norwich Help Center,” called a mega-menu for much of the information that had clogged the previous city website home page, Pothier said.
City officials are still working on integrating social media with the website and expect to add those links in about a month.
