Here’s a short update on injured guard R.J. Evans:
Evans, who’s sidelined with a sternal-clavicular sprain, is shooting to be back for UConn’s game against nationally-ranked N.C. State on Dec. 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York, according to UConn associate head coach Glen Miller.
But Miller added it is more likely that Evans returns for the Dec. 7 game against Harvard.
Of course, that’s assuming Evans doesn’t have any setback during his recovery.
Evans suffered the injury during practice on Thursday. He is expected to be out at least two weeks but is working hard to return sooner.
Evans, a Norwich Free Academy graduate, is usually the first player off the bench. He's appeared in all five games, averaging 5.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game. He's also provided leadership.
“That’s a big loss,” Miller said.
As expected, freshman reserve Leon Tolksdorf (sprained left knee) also will sit out today’s game against Stony Brook in Storrs.
Check back later for post-game updates.
