Norwich police arrest two on drug charges

Norwich — Police arrested two men Sunday afternoon on drug charges during a routine motor vehicle stop on West Main Street.

Nathaniel R. Moore, 24, of 33 Sullivan Drive, Norwich, was charged with possession of a hallucinogenic substance.

Nestor Pagan, 29, address unknown, was charged with possession of narcotics, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm and alteration of a firearm serial number. Editor's note: This corrects the address given in an earlier version.

Police said Officer Sean Sullivan was on patrol on West Main Street when he saw a car driving without its headlights at 5:30 p.m.

When the car pulled over, police said the five occupants were acting suspiciously. Several officers responded to the scene to assist Sullivan.

Police said during the investigation they found the drugs and handgun. A third occupant in the vehicle was on parole and immediately remanded to the custody of the Department of Correction.

Pagan, who has a history of gun violence, was held on a $10,000 bond. Moore was released on a $5,000 bond.
