Christmas concertos wtih the New London Community Orchestra

Published December 06. 2012 4:00AM

Say what you want about December overkill - particularly since it now starts in early October - but the proper Christmas enthusiast can always find time to fit in another festive concert.

In that spirit: Hark!

The New London Community Orchestra present their Holiday Concert Saturday afternoon in New London's Harbour Towers Ballroom. This is a fine outfit with a noble purpose. They're staffed exclusively by volunteer musicians whose mission is not only to play fine music for our region, but also to offer outreach in terms of music education.

In addition to "Carol of the Bells" and "The Christmas Song," Saturday's bill includes Leopold Mozart's Musical Sleigh Ride, Arcangelo Corelli's Christmas Concerto, Op. 6, No. 8, and Pietro Antonio Locatelli's Christmas Concerto, Op. 1, No. 8.

Holiday Concert, New London Community Orchestra, 2 p.m. Saturday, Harbour Towers Ballroom, 461 Bank St., New London; $5 suggested donation; newlondoncommunityorchestra.org

Yes, it's highly suggestive and inappropriate at a school function.
No, teens will be teens. A ban would just encourage them more.
What's grinding? The Charleston is the last dance I learned.
