Paul Higgins, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in East Lyme, has been named president of the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors for 2013.

Higgins was officially installed as head of the local Realtors group earlier this week at the Spa at Norwich Inn.

"Being a Realtor means more than selling real estate," Higgins, a New London resident, said in prepared remarks. "It means being a part of a community, both of the professionals we work with, and the people we serve."

Higgins was installed by Robert Kimball, president of the Connecticut Association of Realtors and an ECAR member. Robert Kennedy, executive vice president of the state association, served as master of ceremonies.

Other officers installed this week were: Alvin Kinsall of Randall Realtors, president elect; Quincy Clayton of RE/MAX Property Consultants, secretary; Merry Cassabria of RE/MAX Home Team, treasurer, and Cathy Duprey of Duprey Real Estate, immediate past president.

Directors of ECAR for the coming year will be: Mary Poola of Heritage Properties, Lea Borgne of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Marvin Elbaum of William Raveis Real Estate, Donna Sormanti-Saglio of RE/MAX Coast and Country, Susan Robotham of Randall Realtors, Douglas Taber of Taber Realty, Christian Driscoll of William Pitt Sotheby's International, Marilyn Lusher of RE/MAX Home Team and Joanne Pendleton of Crystal Real Estate.
