Matt Vadas scored a school-record 43 points to lead the Connecticut College men's basketball team to a 79-69 win over Westminster (Pa.) Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Tampa Bay Shootout in Florida.
Vadas, a junior guard, also had nine rebounds and Jared Shill had six rebounds and six assists for Conn (5-6). Vadas was 12-for-19 from the floor, made 10 of his 11 free throw attempts and was named to the all-tournament team. Anthony Thomas (23) and Doug Smith combined for 44 points for Westminster (4-7).
DePauw beat LaGrange 83-63 in the championship game.
