The New England Collegiate Baseball League announced Wednesday that it will add three teams this season, including the first NECBL franchise located outside of New England - Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
NECBL commissioner Sean McGrath said the Saratoga Brigade will join the Ocean State Waves (South Kingstown, R.I.) and a franchise in Plymouth, Mass., allowing the league to expand to 13 teams for its 20th season.
The Mystic Schooners, who begin their third season in the league and play their home games at Fitch High School, will play in a revamped Eastern Division with Ocean State, Plymouth, Laconia (N.H.), Sanford (Maine), New Bedford (Mass.) and Newport (R.I.).
Saratoga joins Danbury, Vermont, Keene (N.H.), North Adams (Mass.) and Holyoke (Mass.) in the six-team Western Division.
