Norwich — American Legion Post 104 in Taftville will conduct a Four Chaplains ceremony on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m.

The ceremony honors the actions of four Army chaplains who were aboard the transport ship Dorchester when it was torpedoed and sank in 1943 by the German submarine U-223. Members of the local clergy, each representing the faith of one of the original chaplains, will deliver the benediction.

Cathy Zall, pastor of the First Congregational Church of New London, is the keynote speaker. One of the four chaplains, Lt. Clark V. Poling, was ordained in the New London Congregational Church, Zall said at last year’s ceremony.

The post is at 26 Merchants Ave. Hors d’oeuvres, prepared by Sons of the American Legion Detachment Squad 104, will be served at the end of the ceremony.
