I urge readers to contact their state representatives and senators immediately. Tell them not to support Senate bills 122 and 161 and any other legislation that infringes upon our rights.
These bills are onerous and unconstitutional. They will do nothing to stop crime or violence and will only affect the law abiding. If these bills are enacted the state will need to budget a fortune for the law enforcement officials and prisons that will be needed to house the sea of felons they will create.
Also, if the intent is to take private property where will the hundreds of millions of dollars needed to compensate people come from?
We have too many gun laws now. Evil will never be stopped through legislation and we must not allow the government to limit our right of self-defense. The emphasis should be on enforcing the laws we have now, treating mental illness and stopping the revolving doors of our prison system.
