Reading about the individual and his dog being hit by a car in Waterford on Monday, "Pedestrian walking dog hit by car in Waterford" (Jan. 16), and about his dog passing away, angered and saddened me to the core.
I don't know how many times while getting the mail or bringing the garbage cans in on Fog Plain Road that people have gone speeding by me, without even slowing down for a human being.
I told my family that if someone hits me, file a lawsuit against them for all they are worth, and then some. Then take every cent of that money, and give it to the Waterford/East Lyme Animal Shelter new building fund, in my memory.
Someone driving irresponsibly should be punished severely.
