John Waite performs at the Kate

John Waite has sold millions of records - in three different incarnations. There was The Babys, of course (yet, for all their success, they are still critically one of the most underrated power pop bands of all time). There was Bad English, a supergroup that scored big with the song "When I See You Smile."

And, of course, there's the solo Waite. His "Missing You" will trod heavily in Top 40 formats forever, and he continues to create solid rock albums to the present. The title track from last year's "Rough & Tumble" album went to #1 on Classic Rock radio.

Waite performs tonight at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook.

- Rick Koster

John Waite, 7:30 tonight, Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; $35, $40; (860) 510-0473, thekate.org.
