Westbrook senior Kaitlin MacMillan recently signed with Division II school Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina. Playing softball since the age of eight and pitching since the age of nine, MacMillan began playing competitive travel ball for the Shoreline Sting in 2007 and, after five years with the organization, she was spotted at a college showcase in Devens, Massachusettes by a scout for the Worcester Hawks, an elite travel team coached by former U.S. Olympic and gold medal-winning coach Ralph Raymond. With tireless assistance from her pitching coach George Perlotto and a series of college showcases, visits, and tryouts, MacMillan was presented with offers from schools such as Villanova, Sienna College, and Pace University.
Ranked fourth in the state for strikeouts, MacMillan hopes to bring the Westbrook varsity team back to the state tournament this spring and will be joining a newly-formed travel team-the Tides-this summer, which is based out of Clinton.
