New London — Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will address the cadets, faculty and staff at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Thursday at 1 p.m.

Dempsey, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, plans to talk about readiness, trust and working in an uncommon profession.

He will also visit Electric Boat in Groton to tour a Virginia-class submarine.

The academy address, which is not open to the public, is tentatively scheduled to be webcast on the Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System.
