The Marine Science Magnet High School Parent Teacher Organization will host its second annual Adult Spelling Bee at 7 p.m. April 5 at the school’s Great Hall at 130 Shennecossett Road in Groton.
The spelling bee is designed to be a fun and competitive spelling bee for adults and students. George Colli, reporter with NBC News 30, will serve as master of ceremonies.
Patterned after the Scripps Howard National Contest, the spelling bee is open to corporate and community organizations to enter a competitive team of three spellers. Teams to date include attorneys, teachers, engineers and students.
The event is free to attend and open to the public. There will be food for purchase and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the PTO.
