The Old Saybrook Fire Co. No. 1 presents its 8th Annual Firefighters Competition & Free Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Clark Memorial Field (Fireman's Field) at 210 Elm Street in Old Saybrook, CT

The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. sharp. until 2 p.m.

The volunteer fire department's daylong event, which is free and open to the public, will feature about seven area fire departments competing in color guard events, water ball events, add-a-length fire hose events and water drafting, in addition to other activities.

In addition, food and beverage concessions will be available, as well as children's games and activities. The event will feature grand-stand seating, or those attending can bring their own seating. It is highly recommended to bring sunscreen.

The day promises to be filled with challenging drills designed to hone the skills of the firefighters, while being fun and entertaining for friends and family. The preparations and practice conducted by the entered fire departments has resulted in a sense of dedication and pride not seen since the Fire Department Field Days conducted on the Valley Shore in the 1960's, 70's and 80's
