Relying heavily on first-person accounts (letters and diaries) along with supportive documentation extracted from period books and newspapers, Rhode Island’s Civil War Hospital details the lives of convalescent soldiers (Union combatants and Confederate prisoners) at a long since forgotten Civil War general army hospital in the north.
