Education/Lectures
Sunday TIME: 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Can you imagine getting on board a train at the Chester Depot and traveling to Middletown or Old Saybrook? In 1871, you wouldve had a choice of two morning trains and two late afternoon trains to take from Chester. What happened to them?
Max Miller, who has become well known around the state as the Connecticut Valley Railroad Historian, will talk about the history of railroading in the lower Connecticut Valley, especially in Chester. Until his retirement in 1998, Miller worked for 22 years as a foreman for the Valley Railroad, following many years as a volunteer there. He has been amassing a vast collection of Valley Railroad memorabilia for decades. He will bring his photographs and other items to exhibit at the Meeting House. Following the program, refreshments will be served.
