Hanna will share the remarkable story of how she and her mother, a Holocaust survivor, overcame the past and crafted a new life for themselves.
Ms. Marcus’ book, Sidonia’s Thread: The Secrets of a Mother and Daughter Sewing a New Life in America, is a poignant memoir about the lives of a mother and daughter who came to Springfield, Massachusetts on their own after World War II to build a new life. With no other family except each other, they build a world that revolves around the mother’s remarkable talent as fashion designer and seamstress while the daughter serves as her dutiful model.
Copies of the book may be borrowed at the library and may be purchased at the event. This program is free and open to the public. For further information, please call the Library at 860-537-5752, Monday -Thursday, 10 am to 8 pm; Friday, 10 am to 4 pm; and Saturday, 10 am to 1 pm.
