The Arts Commission of Christ Church will present a multimedia talk by Russell Oberlin on Sunday, February 24 at 4:00 pm. Mr. Oberlin, famed countertenor and lecturer will speak on his career, which has included founding and performing with New York Pro Musica Antiqua, as well as collaborations with many musical notables such as Robert Shaw, Glenn Gould, Leonard Bernstein, and Sir Georg Solti. In 1960, he sang the role of Oberon in the premiere of Benjamin Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream at Covent Garden in London.
A senior Fulbright research scholar, Oberlin has taught and lectured extensively in the USA and England. In October 1995, Oberlin appeared before a packed house at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, for a memorable onstage interview with music critic Tim Page, featuring filmed and recorded highlights of the singer’s career.
