Although Connecticut was never the seat of conflict during the Civil War, the state was very much involved in the effort to preserve the Union. This program will examine how the shipyards, the shipping and the sailors of the Nutmeg State supported the cause on the maritime front lines.
Dr. Glenn S. Gordinier, of Stonington, CT, is the senior historian at Mystic Seaport where he teaches for the Williams College maritime studies program. Specializing in maritime history, he is also on the faculty of the University of Connecticut at Avery Point.
