SAYBROOK ROCKS is a community art initiative in which twenty-five custom designed rocking chairs are on display throughout Old Saybrook and available for bidding via an online auction at

Each rocker is uniquely designed and reflects a certain aspect of our community--whether it's the natural beauty of the Sound and beaches, our rich history, or cultural icons. This is your chance to own a piece of Old Saybrook while supporting two important causes: the programs of The Estuary and of the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce.

The twenty five cypress rocking chairs have been ‘adopted’ by the following local businesses and organizations: Total Design Source, Liberty Bank, Fitzgerald Painting, Grossman Chevrolet/Nissan, The Monkey Farm, KUR Recovery Spa, The Estuary, Alina Russo Art & Illustration, Cartier Optical, Bongo Ron's, Wild Birds Unlimited, Saybrook Point Resort, Bliss Spa, Old Saybrook Lions Club, Saybrook Home, Old Saybrook Fire Department, Pieces, Luigi's, Lisa Ludwig Art, Jazzercise, The Kate, Old Saybrook Youth & Family, and Guilford Savings Bank.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the services and programs of The Estuary and the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce. Saybrook Rocks is sponsored by Guilford Savings Bank.

For artist Lisa Ludwig, this was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. Having recently opened Lisa Ludwig Art at 274 Main Street, a working art studio and gallery, she was eager to be part of Saybrook Rocks. “Creating art, helping to spread art, supporting the community… count me in,” said Ludwig.

To bid on a rocking chair visit between Monday, May 16 and Wednesday, June 1.
