-Bushwalla at Wolf Den

Music
-Bushwalla at Wolf Den ; The Wolf Den @ Mohegan Sun Resort, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd, Uncasville, CT , 06382

Bushwalla, the persona of Billy Galewood, who has toured and/or collaborated with famed artists such as Jason Mraz, Steve Poltz, The FIXX, Liz Phair, G. Love, Pigeon Jon, Spooner Oldham, and K'Naan, will perform at the Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, CT on October 2nd.

This show won’t be like anything he has done in the past. Bushwalla created a set comprised of two stages. Stage A will be the “mad scientist” stage where Bushwalla will compose beats, free-style hip-hop and use organic material to create sound. Stage B will be the acoustic/storytelling stage where Bushwalla will take requests, improve, and showcase his folk singer/songwriter side. The eclectic and talented artist will also tie comedy, circus, magic, juggling and digital art into his multi-faceted show.

Bushwalla is a singer, songwriter, collaborator, and free-styler who has coined a unique blend of acoustic, hip-hop, folk and R&B with a soul deeply rooted in authenticity and optimism. Bushwalla co-wrote Jason Mraz’s debut platinum album, Waiting For My Rocket to Come and sophomore release Mr. A-Z.
The show will begin at 8 p.m, tickets are $10

Klezmenschen in Concert

Music
Donald L. Oat Theatre , 62 Broadway, Norwich, CT , 06360

Donald Oat Theater will echo with the sound of Klezmer as Klezmenschen of Eastern Connecticut play to raise funds for the Norwich Arts Center. Audience members are invited to dance in the aisles--as they did the last time the group played at NAC in 2012, when joyful patrons from infants to elders joined hands in circle dances.
What is Klezmer music? Remember the wedding dances in Fiddler on the Roof? The clarinet solos of Benny Goodman? Itzhak Perlman’s joyous improvisations In The Fiddler’s House? Or today’s young musicians who mix Afro-pop and hip-hop with Eastern European melodies? All these and more are Klezmer. It’s a joyful music that makes you want to take hands in a circle and dance the hora, but it will make you nostalgic for a vanished world in songs that bring you to tears.
The Klezmenschen of Eastern Connecticut, led by Roz Etra on accordion and keyboard, have been playing together for nearly a decade, with a varying line-up of musicians. Klezmenschen’s regulars include Mystic’s Mickey Weiss on clarinet, New London’s Barry Weiner, flute, Waterford’s Lenny Ashkenazi, trumpet, Barry Greenhalgh of Old Mystic, fiddle, Norwich resident Faye Ringel on keyboards and vocals. We join forces with many other instrumentalists to perform “Jewish jazz” arrangements of traditional tunes, songs from the Yiddish Theater, and Israeli dance tunes. For this concert, our special guest artist is Gary Buttery, tuba virtuoso extraordinaire.
Ticket prices are $10, and refreshments will be available.

Chamber Music Concert by Ensemble Aubade

Music
Chamber Music Concert by Ensemble Aubade; Christ Church, 7 Elm St., Westerly, RI , 02891

The Arts Commission of Christ Church will be presenting a chamber music concert featuring the ensemble group “Aubade”. Renowned for their fine musicianship, Ensemble Aubade, with Peter Bloom on flute, Francis Grimes on viola, and Mary Jane Rupert on harp, perform masterworks by European and American composers. All three musicians have played in major orchestras including the Boston Pops, the Boston Philharmonic, and the Boston Opera. They began concertizing as a flute, viola and harp trio inspired by their shared passion for the magnificent Debussy trio, and their desire to explore and perform other chamber music treasures, from the familiar to the newly discovered. All are invited to attend this free concert. A reception will follow the concert in the parish hall.
