The four interns and their mentor from New York City have spent the month of the Toyota USA Foundation sponsored program working with Mainieri at the Devil's Den and Sunny Valley preserves in western Connecticut doing trail maintenance, building upkeep and removal of invasive species. The program provides paid summer internships for high school students and helps educators from environmental high schools share best practices and scientific resources. Thursday's tour also included a visit to Wequetequock Dam farther down Anguilla Brook and discussions of migratory fish habitats.
