USS New Mexico, a Virginia-class attack submarine, returns to the Naval Submarine Base in Groton after its inaugural deployment Monday, Aug. 12, 2013. During the six month deployment the USS New Mexico conducted national security operations in the European region.

The Bergerons were waiting for Lieutenant Junior Grade Joshua Bergeron, the Goulas were waiting for Corpsman Adam Goulas and Michelle Caswell and her husband, Chief Kenneth Caswell, not shown, where there in support of the entire crew. Caswell was a crew member of the USS New Mexico, but left the boat 3 months ago because he will be retiring on Friday.
