After the demonstration the helicopter landed on the baseball field and the boat docked at a nearby pier where the students were able to view the craft and ask questions of the crews. Mayor Daryl Justin Finizio paints a fire hydrant green and gold for Whaler Pride outside New London City Hall Thursday, July 24, 2014 while on his vacation. The mayor started his project of painting hydrants on Monday by painting one in front of the Garde Arts Center and one at Riverside Park and plans to paint two or three a day in key visible points in the downtown area. Finizio thought it would be a fun idea and add another touch of art to the downtown. Finizio says his new mohawk hairstyle is in support of his sister who has cancer and did not want him, since he is a mayor, to shave his head like other family members. Finizio decided on a mohawk since she did not say anything about mohawks.
