Digital News Director

This full-time position's requirements and responsibilities include: knowledge of HTML and HTML5 to create special reports and promotions on theday.com; build out new sections as needed; brainstorm with other departments (news, marketing, advertising) on best practices for multimedia online; social media acumen and ideas to advance, promote, spread the reach of our content; stay abreast of online journalism trends, innovations and multimedia through research, webinars; take the lead in training reporters, photographers, and videographers; act as contact point for third parties; compile monthly web analytics report; experience with documentary videography, Final Cut Pro and website design is a plus.


ADVERTISING

Digital Design Specialist (with coding skills)

This full-time position is responsible for concepts, design, and implementation for our digital advertising and marketing platforms. This includes flash and HTML banner ads, web interfaces, web applications, video, online marketing, mobile applications, social media and new untapped interactive technologies. The ideal candidate must be expert in Creative Suites design and web programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash AS2/AS3, Dreamweaver). Must have knowledge of HTML, HTML5, Java Script, CSS, CSS3, and XML. Must have a strong knowledge of Web architecture, SEO, page layout, typography and photo editing. Excellent visual design skills and a understanding of design principles are necessary. Bachelor's degree in design, interactive graphics or related field is preferred. Please provide an online portfolio or links to examples of work.

Senior Administrative Coordinator

This full-time position reports to the Advertising Director and is responsible for coordinating efforts of the Advertising Assistants and providing administrative support to advertising management and the sales staff. Duties include: sales tracking, goal and incentive preparation, and budgeting/monitoring & recording of department expenses. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience, demonstrated written and oral communication skills, and a minimum of two years clerical or administrative experience. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.

Motor Route Drivers

The Day is currently accepting applications for motor route drivers for the towns of Ledyard, North Stonington, Stonington and Waterford. A valid driver's license, a good driving record, proof of insurance, and a reliable vehicle is required. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. Excellent pay, early morning hours.
