Guilford Notches States Victory Over Amity-North Haven-Cheshire

The Guilford Art Center hosted a Liquid Art: Cocktail and Gallery Party at the Art Center on Friday, March 6, 2020. The event featured tastings of creative craft beverages from some of ConnecticutþÄôs newest breweries, cideries, and distilleries. There was also the Art CenterþÄôs Student Art Exhibition on display, live music by the Wiley Bartels Trio, a silent auction, and food. Proceeds went to the Guilford Art CenterþÄôs educational and community programs which also includes their scholarship fund. þÄúProject: Music Heals UsþÄù held a chamber music concert Friday February 14th at the First Congregational Church.  The theme of the program was Legends and Folklore III þÄúParadise LostþÄù.

The next concert will be held Friday May 15th at St. George Catholic Church, Guilford. Proceeds benefit healing concerts played in local nursing homes, hospitals, hospices, homeless shelters, and prisons. For info or tickets, visit

Guilford High School once again hosted the Greater New Haven Chinese CommunityþÄôs Chinese New Year Celebration for the Year of the Rat; with Chinese food potluck from participating families, games, kid activities,  a Chinese calligraphy station with music and dancing performances in the theater. Ping Wang holds little Alice Deng as she watches Dr. Guan as he creates good luck sayings in Chinese calligraphy.

Stand Up for SARAH, a comedy night fundraiser for the SARAH Foundation, took place at East Creek Landing on Friday, January 10, 2020. The event featured comedians Ray Harrington and Rob Ryan and was hosted by Ryan Brauth of Comedy Craft Beer. There was also a buffet dinner, cash bar, and raffle prizes. Impact Financial, Yale New Haven Health, the Marketplace at Guilford Food Center, and other local businesses sponsored the event. Guilford Art Center held its 8th annual  Open Arts Day on Sunday. 
The Art CenterþÄôs studios and classrooms were open with art instructors demonstrating their craft  and offered  a variety of hands-on project for all ages.   Pottery, print making, blacksmithing, painting, drawing, weaving, metalsmithing, and stone carving were packed with eager artists watching and participating.  Joanne Nelson demonstrated how to make a metal charm.

The Guilford Parks and Recreation and the Guilford Interfaith Volunteers held their 18th Annual Patriotic Dinner Friday November 8th to honor veterans and celebrate the American Legion Post 48 Centennial. The Patriotic Dinner was held at the Guilford Community Center, proceeds from the event benefit Meals on Wheels.
