Set the Example for Connecticut

Madison is at a historic moment. In the world of conservation and development you don't get many second chances, but with the Griswold Airport property vote, Madison has another

opportunity at the height of the green revolution to set the example for Connecticut by voting "Yes" for the purchase of this coastal access land.

Will Rogers said about land that "they aren't makin' any more of it"; well, there is even less coastal property. There are no other parcels available with 2,000 feet of marshfront and 400 feet of Hammonasset Riverfront. If Madison votes "Yes," then we will avoid the extra expense of the empty nesters who move out of a home in Madison to live at the proposed condos while their houses are bought by families with children who will enter our school system.

The proposal gives us a chance to take advantage of one of the few good things to come out of the recession, the chance to avoid the mistakes of the past, and to add something positive for the future.
