The author of the letter titled "Heavy hand of U.S. falls on Iran, but not Israel," published Feb. 28, apparently believes that Israel and Iran are moral equivalents. Garbage.
Israel has consistently - by words and action - sought peace. It has peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan because the folks on the other side were similarly predisposed. Iran, on the other hand, is governed by religious fanatics who have stated by words and deeds that Iran seeks the destruction of Israel. Is the writer really indifferent to a nuclear-armed Iran or does he think that would be good?
I suppose it's not "nice" for an organized group from somewhere to go to Dubai to assassinate, without collateral damage, a terrorist who deserved it.
On the other hand, it's also not "nice" for U.S. drones, safely guided from the U.S. Midwest, to cross borders into Pakistan and Yemen to kill al-Qaida and Taliban terrorists. But war is hell, and dirty deeds against a legitimate target in a just cause are sometimes necessary.
I suppose the writer claims that Hamas-led Gaza is peace-loving and just wants to get along with its neighbors.
Come on now. Get real.
