I received the new Linda McMahon pocket guide to politics; it includes a lot of "just-like-Dodd" statements about Rob Simmons. What a great mailer - reminds me of a tourist guide with every panel being a stop along the path.
The way it unfolds is especially cool: Rob Simmons in black and white, Linda McMahon in color. They are contrasted, compared and such.
The theme is: Rob Simmons is just like Chris Dodd, a Washington politician. Sounds familiar in the last contest between Mr. Simmons and Joe Courtney. Rob Simmons was just like George Bush. Are we to believe Chris Dodd is just like George Bush? I think not. I'll bet Sen. Dodd agrees.
Conveniently absent in the comic strip is the fact that Rob Simmons' last job as our business advocate was creating and preserving jobs in Connecticut.
Will Rogers would have a good time with this one.
Remember, voters are smarter than they think.
I'd like to see Linda McMahon in office, maybe as a mayor, where she can work her way up as she did in business. From the board room to Senate chambers is a pretty long leap. Just ask Ned Lamont, who wants to be governor.
The Day hosted a web chat with New London Mayor Daryl J. Finizio to discuss the beginning of his new administration and news out of the city's police department.
In the past two weeks our Facebook fans have won tickets to the CT Tigers, Newport Winefest and Mystic Seaport. Become a fan of The Day on Facebook for access to these contests, breaking news, TheDay.com's best features and more!
