Being the unfortunate owners of a Toyota Camry on both recall lists (floor mat and accelerator), we were completely relieved to have the repairs done as soon as possible. I had all but refused to drive the car before this was done, not wanting to become a statistic or, God forbid, being the cause of someone else's injuries.
Now, after all the latest articles and news reports, I find out that the repairs are not alleviating the acceleration problem. What are we supposed to do? I simply will not drive the car. It will remain parked in my driveway.
I feel that Toyota should either make our monthly car payments, or at least suspend payments until this mess is in actuality resolved, or replace it for one not on the recall list. The problem is not ours, but Toyota's.
We have a dangerous car that we pay taxes, insurance and registration on, are afraid of, continue to pay for, and can't drive, and I know we're not the only owners in this situation.
Buy American folks, buy American.
