Norwich — Police arrested a man today on charges that he allegedly broke into the Sam's Mobil on Washington Street and stole numerous packs of cigarettes and lottery tickets.
Damaso J. Rolon, 43, of 17 Clairemont Ave., Apt. 2, was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree criminal mischief.
Sgt. James C. Tetreault said at 12:05 a.m. police responded to the Sam's Mobil for a business alarm.
When police arrived, they saw the front glass door broken and that cigarettes and lottery tickets were stolen, Tetreault said.
The suspect fled on foot but witnesses were able to give a description and an investigation by Officer Cornelius Carmody led to Rolon's arrest.
Rolon is being held on a $25,000 bond, pending his arraignment today in Norwich Superior Court.
The Day hosted a web chat with New London Mayor Daryl J. Finizio to discuss the beginning of his new administration and news out of the city's police department.
