Chief Justice Roberts should avoid political involvement and public whining.
President Obama delivered his joint session and commented on the Supreme Court's recent ruling on campaign donations and expressed his displeasure. The bipartisan audience applauded. We saw Justice Alito mumble "that's not true" and now we have our chief justice taking his anger to an inappropriate level complaining publicly.
Justice Roberts and the Supremes voted party lines, the usual 5-4, but Mr. Roberts' behavior is most troubling. All the justices should remain fair and balanced.
Justice Roberts is now considering not attending any more joint sessions, and I agree. He has demonstrated his inability to handle criticism while reminding us of the bad blood between both men. Then-Sen. Barack Obama did not vote to confirm Mr. Roberts.
Term limits should apply not only to Congress, they should include the Supreme Court.
Both sides agree this was a bad decision from the high court and the outcome will bring more division to an already divided country. Unions' well-funded organizations can donate with personal endorsements. What a terrible idea!
I would like to remind Justices Alito and Roberts they should lead by example and respect the president, regardless of who he or she is.
