We are very fortunate in Madison to be represented by Deborah Heinrich in Hartford. Early in her fist term, she encountered the pollution of the Hammonasset River by a major area business. In short order, she brought all of the principals together: residents, company representatives, and town officials. A solution was reached through compromise and the bottom line is that the pollution was stopped. This is an example of why Deborah Heinrich is so admired by so many of her constituents.
During the past term, she focused on and voted for a bipartisan balanced budget with no state tax increase. In this difficult economy, level-headedness prevailed. Deb was among the representatives who worked to pass legislation for small business loans, assistance for start-ups, angel investments, and pre-seed capital. She worked to streamline the Department of Environmental Protection permit process. She was instrumental in legislation to retrain people by enhancing our community colleges, as well as increasing school bus safety. She was also involved in the passing of legislation for incentives to promote green industry. Over and over, Deb Heinrich has demonstrated her ability to get things done. She has worked tirelessly for each and every one of her constituents. We owe her our sincere gratitude and wish her well in the fall campaign.
