Jewish immigrants feared a century ago

I wonder if the Anti-Defamation League is aware of Leonard Dinnerstein's important book, "Anti-Semitism in America," which describes the public attitude toward Jewish immigration just 100 years ago in terms that might be compared to Islamophobia today.

Fear of anarchists, communists and labor organizers back then was transferred to an entire group of people whose lives were made much harder in their new land.

This lesson ought not to be lost on the Anti-Defamation League or others who give vent to fear and unreason in the issue of an Islamic center in lower Manhattan.
