Disco's back, baby!
It was so quaint, that period when folks dissed disco. But now, as pop culture is wont to do, the cycle has brought things back around. Everything you hear on the radio now sounds like some Frankensteinian mash-up of disco and that other much-maligned genre, '80s pop.
Everyone is, um, Gaga for dance music again. Which brings us to the Queen of Disco, Donna Summer.
She has done much, of course, since her reign as the '70s dance-music diva, but she's still, first and foremost, the powerhouse voice behind songs like "Last Dance" to her fans. She's guaranteed to roll out that and those other greatest hits - "Hot Stuff," probably, and "On the Radio" and "Dim All the Lights" and "She Works Hard for the Money" - when she gives a concert Friday at MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
And - who knows - maybe some newbie tunes, too. She just released the single, "To Paris With Love" and has said that has plans for a new dance release and an album of standards.
