After watching the new movie, "Restrepo," I must say that if Secretary of Defense Robert Gates really wants to save the military's money, get rid of all the contractors who are overpaid who work on military bases and ports and replace them with our U.S. soldiers.
Now we hear contractors are running ranges and the ranges are not being run by soldiers. We have many experienced combat soldiers who could do well training our new recruits on the weapons ranges. They know all about Iraq and Afghanistan - "Been there, done that."
Our soldiers have the background to teach well what they know firsthand. Please, let's use our veteran active-duty troops on these rangers, not contractors. It's a way top rebuild our precious U.S. military again.
The Day hosted a web chat with New London Mayor Daryl J. Finizio to discuss the beginning of his new administration and news out of the city's police department.
In the past two weeks our Facebook fans have won tickets to the CT Tigers, Newport Winefest and Mystic Seaport. Become a fan of The Day on Facebook for access to these contests, breaking news, TheDay.com's best features and more!
