Six years ago, Deb Heinrich was criticizing our then-State Rep Peter Metz for not focusing on Madison and getting our fair share of education money from Hartford. Six years later, we get less than we did then.
Madison gets back $.06 for every $1 it sends to Hartford. This hurts us most on education and property taxes. Time and again, Heinrich voted for state mandates on our towns that come with a huge bill and no state aid.
Six years ago, Heinrich said that being part of the Democrat majority in Hartford would help her to do a better job for the people of the state of Connecticut. Six years later, the state is virtually bankrupt, facing huge deficits well into the next five years, and we are borrowing against our children's future to pay for it all.
Heinrich votes with the leadership in the legislature and is part of that leadership as vice chair of the Appropriations Committee, perhaps the most powerful committee in the legislature. These are the people who set the agenda for the highest tax increases ever in the state of Connecticut and this year alone have borrowed the most ever in state history. Deficits, taxes, and debt-that's the leadership team of which she's part. Heinrich is part of the problem!
As we head into the campaign season, I encourage your readers to listen very critically to what the Democrats are saying and ask themselves, "Haven't I heard this before?" The Democrats keep promising things will get better as they fall apart around us.
The Democrats have had their chance and they've blown it for all of us.
