Norwich not focusing on students as priority

I want to comment about the Norwich kindergarten student shift. ("Norwich shifts students to other school in response to large kindergarten classes," Sept. 4.) Since moving to Norwich I have been less than impressed with the school system and any efforts made by it during the recent budget crunch.
My children, second-graders and third-graders, had their teachers changed twice before school even started.
Despite numerous calls to their school, Stanton Elementary, as of Saturday I still didn't know who their teachers would be or what the bus schedule would be Tuesday.
My last attempt to obtain information was on Sept. 3, the Friday before the holiday weekend. We called in the morning and were kindly asked to call back later. When we called back at 3:30 p.m., no one answered.
Someone should have seen these problems coming with such a huge change in school closings. Norwich schools should have put students first and, instead of all this time off for teachers and administrators, returned to work earlier to avoid such chaos.
Norwich schools focus on budget first and students second. I haven't seen anything to change my opinion.
