PRESS RELEASE: Americans who lost their lives during the attacks on September 11, 2001, will be remembered on Sunday, September 11, 2011, the tenth anniversary of this tragedy.  Branford Rotary will remember and honor the fallen, as well as friends and families as designated by releasing countless painted lady butterflies.
The program will occur on Sunday, September 11, 1:00-2:00 PM, near the Branford Town Hall, Main Street, on the Green.
The activities will include a reading of the names being remembered and/or honored, the butterfly release, choral music provided by the Branford High School chorus, the U.S. Coast Guard (Sector Long Island Sound) of New Haven Color Guard, and community singing.
Branford Rotary encourages the public to become involved by sponsoring a butterfly in memory of or in honor of loved ones by contributing a $10.00 donation per honoree.  Checks made payable to “The Rotary Club of Branford” should be mailed to Charlotte Mattei, 50 Kirkham Street, Branford 06405.  Please include the name of the honoree, your name, address, telephone number, and email address. This information must be received no later than August 29. Telephone inquiries—203/503-1829.  Forms may also be found at www.branfordrotary.org.
“Let us all join together in peace ten years later, and let freedom soar through these beautiful butterflies,” stated Branford Rotary Club President, Alpha Coiro.
The Rotary Club of Branford is an organization of more than 60 women and men representing a cross-section of local business and professional leaders who work as volunteers on a variety of local and international projects to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities. The club meets weekly on Mondays from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. at the Italian American Social Club, 40 Hamre Lane. Guests of members are welcome to attend luncheons.
