It is good to have the election behind us. It was a difficult battle. As block captains we met many good folks who obviously love and support Branford. There is so much volunteer time given to the community, and this seems to be a unique quality in Branford. These groups have a very good working relationship with [First] Selectman [Anthony "Unk"] DaRos and this strengthens the town. We are glad he remains at the helm.
It was unfortunate that the Republican campaign did not step away from the red lawn signs that said "DaRos Dishonest." This was not civil and basically unworthy propaganda. It leaves a bad taste, as it did nothing to promote people working together in a harmonious way to keep the town on an even keel. Branford deserves more than this negative publicity.
What we should take away from this is that votes matter and elections count. Whenever you have the opportunity, vote-this is a privilege that we too often take for granted.
