With Pride and Appreciation

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all of my fellow veteran comrades from both the Veterans of Foreign Wars Madison Post No. 2096 and Griswold Post No. 79 American Legion, as well as all of our local resident veterans, to extend our sincere appreciation to all of the local schools, churches, and other organizations that extended us invitations to attend their special school assemblies, flag raisings, religious services, and other get-togethers that they had organized in our honor for Veterans Day 2011.

In particular I wish to thank the students, staff, and parents of the following Madison public schools: Polson Middle School, Jeffrey Elementary School, Daniel Hand High School, Island Elementary School, and Ryerson Elementary School. In addition our appreciation is also extended to some other fine Madison organizations: Masonic Lodge of Madison, Our Lady of Mercy School, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and The Hearth at Tunxis Pond. In addition it was also our pleasure to be invited by the Madison schools athletic director to present the "colors" just prior to the start of last Friday's evening's Hand High home football game at the Surf Club.

It is with both pride and appreciation that all of us local veterans feel to be living in a community such as Madison that continues to show not only its pride, but also its appreciation to those of us that have given our service to this country.
