Melinda Alcosser and Maria Mortali, owners of Connecticut Experiential Learning Center (CELC), which relocated in August to 28 School Street in Stony Creek, aim to challenge students and nurture their highest potential. CELC is a tutorial service providing instruction in all subject areas that are considered part of a complete middle school education, plus many hands-on field experiences, for children aged 10 through 14 (5th- through 8th grades). CELC is led by teachers whose expertise stems from more than 30 years' combined experience in an independent middle school setting, as well as private tutoring and raising children. In addition to the full program, there are workshops and events designed to enrich current home schooling.
Students may receive "full-time" instruction in all subjects areas, or join CELC on a "part-time" basis, from three to five days per week.
The Connecticut Experiential Learning Center strives to give its students personal attention, combining a full academic program with learning adventures in the arts, field trip discoveries, and all the benefits of small classes and caring teachers.
