A twist on the Gyro

I love a good Gyro, either traditional (lamb) or with beef or chicken. Last week, though, I discovered a new twist at Mr. G’s in New London — a Gyro with eggplant. What a great melding of Italian and Greek, I thought, so I ordered it up when the waitress raved about it. One of the best things about eggplant is that it’s usually smothered in tomato sauce and cheese. Once I got past that, I was able to enjoy eggplant and Tatziki sauce. While I’m not ready to regularly replace the lamb or chicken with eggplant, I enjoyed expanding my Gyro experience.

Where do you get your favorite Gyro?
